I have been arrested for being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.
The events of the night of the arrest:
On the 27th of February, me and my girlfriend we went to Brendon on the hill at around 6:30pm witch is near Ashby and we were there till Police came witch was around 10:30pm, I had obviously consumed some alcohol during that time, I'd say round 2 pints on an empty stomach, we was going to be there for another 3 hours or so but I had no intention to be driving back home, and my girlfriend wouldn't of let me anyway and I wouldn't think about risking it as my car is on finance and I've been driving for nearly 4 years with a clean license. We would of got a taxi back to hers, so police came at 10.30pm asked me what I was doing there I didn't say much, then they said they said they could smell alcohol and asked me if I'm happy to take a breath test witch, I replied with yea not a problem and got out of my car but the keys were still in the ignition, it then turned out they didn't have a breathalyser on them so they called in another unit, we all stood outside talking, when they came I did a breath test, on which I blew 45 and they arrested me took me down to the police station where I then blew 41. After 2 - 3 hours they let me go back to my car and I drove home. My court date is on 31st of March.
My free solicitor at the station told me not to pay for a solicitor as apparently there is a small chance I can get away with just 10 points and a fine. As I am only an apprentice and I make a minimum wage and can not afford to pay £2000-£5000 for a solicitor that can either ''get my case dismissed'' somehow or in worst case I walk with points and a fine.
If I loose my license, I've basically lost my job witch then will lead to me not being able to pay for all my expenses.
Just asking for advice if I should be getting a loan to pay for a solicitor or do I go with the free one with a hope I only get points and a fine?
