Test Driving a Car Under Dealers Insurance.

Convicted Driver Insurance

My ban is due up on 11th October 2021 (HRO,) and I gave my car to my son after my second conviction. Anyway, I have sorted myself out and haven't touched any alcohol since July 2019 as I was abusing it which led to my current position.

When I do get my licence back and I go to a car dealer for a test drive, would I need to let them know about the conviction(s) as I would be driving the car on their company policy?

Hopefully test drives will be available by then!
The key to anything with insurance is honesty.
They will probably just ask to see your licence to be sure you have one.
If they have any exclusions on their garage insurance about who can drive then they will ask you if you have any points etc, but I would expect that they would not bother.
They will probably have a blanket policy to cover anyone on a test drive, accompanied by a garage employee. The odd driver with a bad record is a minor thing on such a policy, hence their lack lack of interest.
