With hindsight I would not employ a solicitor as your offence of drink driving is a definite. In my case I put my mitigating circumstances to the magistrate and got my ban (as per the relevant guidelines at the time) and the saving made reduced my fine.
Hope that helps and there’s always the duty solicitor on hand at court if he/she is available.

It would be nice to have someone one beside me, I don’t mind duty solicitor but thats only IF they are available
A duty solicitor will have no time to prepare your case or even discuss matters with you. A ban is a given but I personally found it worth paying for representation.
