licence from dvla

Convicted Driver Insurance
Do we need to let the insurance know we will be driving under section 88?
I would think that it is a relevant matter that should be disclosed. If it is a new policy they will want to see your driving licence…… which you do not have, so an explanation is needed……

Ok, I’m going to speak to them tomorrow. Thanks for the advice

I spoke to the insurance and they are well aware of the situation with the dvla and I explained I’ll be driving under section 88, they said this is fine while I’m waiting for the documents from the dvla. I’m excited to drive again now! 12 days to go

How much was your insurance compared to what you used to pay if you don’t mind me asking? And for what car and how much NCB would be helpful. Thanks!

It’s basically the same! Surprisingly! I have 5 years no claims. I went go on go compare. Convicted driving specialists were ridiculous - avoid them

I double this, convicted driver specialists wanted over 3k from me! The first year after my 12 month ban brought my insurance up from £700 on a 3.2 litre at 22 years old to around £2200 still with my 4 years no claims on a 1.9. I now drive a 330d for £890 for the year in the third year since my ban with 6 years NCB. Depending on age of driver, convictions, claims and engine size the insurance can be killer for young drivers. The NCB is crucial.

Do you mind sharing which insurance company you are with ?

If you use the comparison sites you'll get your cheapest quote. Elephant were cheapest my first year but on my second year wanted £1000 more so it's better to just shop around every year, there isn't one "specialist" who could come close to the prices I was getting on confused.

its was sainsbury`s insurance
Good Morning, we do have specialist schemes for getting people back on the road again. As a broker we have access to markets which you do not get online, we can also talk to and negotiate with the underwriters too. Hope you get your license back from the DVLA soon! Mary

Hi all.. I can apply for my license next week and I’ve looked at the fee and not too sure which one I have to pay, as there are two fees listed for disqualified drivers.. £65 and £90.. I’m not a HRO.
