My son got caught last night in Liverpool driving over the alcohol limit (breathalyser reading 54). He was almost certainly doing over the speed limit in a 20mph zone. It seems an open-and-shut case. He spent the night in a police cell and is due in court in 26 July. He is 20 years old and has had a clean driving licence for over 2 years. He has owned a car for 2 years and has 2 years' no claims bonus. Is it necessary (or worth it) to have a solicitor to represent him?
