Convicted Driver Insurance

Hi,

Back in 2010 I crashed my car whilst being slightly over the limit (40 breath). The police offered me the option of a blood test and told me that I would probably get off. The blood test came back under but for some reason they decided to do a back calculation which came in at 82, fast forward 10 months and they have convicted me of drink driving.

Whilst I was waiting 10 months I claimed on my insurance not knowing about any clause where they would not pay if I was over the limit. There is a clause and it seems that I have now claimed fraudulently.

My insurance is due to be renewed soon and obviously I am going to cancel it but...

Should I tell them about the conviction and have to pay the money back?

Will they be able to find out anyway?

Is it worth trying to get away with it or are the repercussions of getting caught very bad?

Totally confused as to what the correct course of action is, please help
