Last time you were banned did your GP have any record of you having a problem with alcohol?

If not, this time is completely different as your GP now has on record from last year that you have a problem with drinking. The last time the doctor was more than likely able to tick no on the box that says "patient has misused or been dependant on alcohol in the last 3 years?" This time he will be ticking yes on that box. Once yes has been checked on this box the DVLA will want evidence of 12 months of abstainance if you were revoked for dependence, 6 months of abstainance/controlled drinking if you were revoked for misuse.

Your GP will only have access to their own record of your health, anything that is discussed with a specialist regarding diabetes will be on file at the hospital/clinic that you attend.

I find that hard to believe as I have just been on my online gp records and every blood test I have had with the specialist the results are all there online along with GP tests

Sorry in NI our records are not kept online for us to be able to access and our records are not kept centralised, for example I attend mental health services and when I recently asked for my records from the GP I only received my records with him and hospital admissions. If this is the case in the rest of the UK then your GP will have full access to all of your blood results for the past year with your specialist and should be able to use this as evidence.

Has your specialist been taking LFT's on your blood? As this is the test the DVLA likes to see the GP doing. When you see your GP inform him that you are going to be going through the medical procedure with the DVLA and ask if they will support you in trying to get your licence returned. As long as your GP has access to a year's worth of bloods and you've been telling your specialist that you are abstainant then there is no reason why the DVLA shouldn't reinstate your licence.
