Drink driving still no summons

Hi my friend crashed into a park car in November and gave a blood sample. He was told he would get a postal charge in January (after Christmas) but have still received nothing or heard anything 9 months later. Do they have a time frame to contact them by or has Covid affected this? Is there a chance they won’t have processed it because it was 5 months before lockdown too.

They have to lay the charge with the Court within 6 months of the offence. Your friend should contact the Court and ask if this has been done.

Thank you for your reply. Could you give me an indication of how long the process usually takes? And would the police notify them of blood results?

They would usually have contacted you by now. It may be that it has been to Court and you missed the date so you should definitely make the enquiries.

And yes usually the police would let you know.

Surely they would send a letter through and we definitely haven’t missed it. The police haven’t had no contact either.
