A friend aged 45 has an automatic driving entitlement for a D1 licence .

Am 50 yrsld and have no such addition! Can anyone shed some light ? Anything to do with the DUI??

A drink Drive Rehabilitation Course conviction does not affect your entitlement to drive certain categories of vehicle. When you get your licence back, you retain the same categories that you had before (Except for HGV and PCV that are applied for separately) under what is known as ‘grandfather rights”.
D1 is the category for a mini bus though. Category B is car (any) and B (auto) is for automatic only.
People who passed their test before 1st January 1997 had mini bus (up to 16 not for hire or reward) D1 included when they got a car licence. (B) After that date it had to be applied for and a separate test taken.

Thanks Price
I passed my test in 1988 so why would there not be a D1
Yes I had my HGV removed then replaced with proper medical evidence of abstinence just wondered did they remove the D1 entitlement?

They may have just missed it off, you should ask them to restore it if you Need it (in due course , of course!)
