Convicted Driver Insurance

Hi
I have an AC20 with 10pts and an AC10 & CD10 with 0pts that expire in Dec21. I have never been banned or claimed on insurance.

I have no intention of driving until the points expire, as any simple 3pt issue would probably result in a ban, its not worth the risk to my permanent record. I do not need to drive currently , although admit it is not ideal.

I have an existing insurance policy that is up for renewal shortly, if I do not renew it ( don't care about fire and theft as car worthless and securely stored) , the 3yrs NCB will still be valid until Nov 22 , so I will still be available to use this when I take out a new policy in Dec 21.

My question is, is it stupid to renew my policy without telling them? Obviously no real risk to either party as I will not be driving the car, and this would give another years NCB.

Also when the time comes to take out a new policy , I realise that I will need to advise insurance companies until Dec23 (5yrs) , Who should I be speaking to ? reading through some of the threads people with worse convictions and bans seem to be getting some reasonable(ish) quotes, Do i need a specialist broker or just a normal major insurer ?
I did walk into a local specialist broker and they were telling me my car was too old to insure so I would need to buy a newer one and if I insured now it would be (c)£1800 , which is just not worth it, for the amount of journeys i do i could get Cabs everywhere and still be better off.

Any advice is appreciated.
