Hi,
my son is due to get his licence back soon after a drink drive ban and is looking at insurance quotes. When applying for insurance should he put that he has had his licence for 5 years (since he passed his test) or 0 years as he is getting his new licence.

Thank you

Good Morning DW10,
The answer to this would depend on if he has to re-take his driving test or not. If he is simply just getting his licence back from the DVLA then he needs to put down the date he originally passed his test. If he has to re-take his driving test before getting his licence back then he has to put the date he most recently passed.
Once he has his licence back please feel free to give us a call in A-Plan as we have a specialist scheme for drivers with motoring convictions and would love to see if we can help him with his insurance needs.
