Dealing with the wait and the anxiety

I’m currently waiting for the outcome of my iTunes test results but have been told this could take several months.
the anxiety and uncertainty is absolutely killing me at the minute. All sorts of questions running through my mind and I’m spending far too much time on the internet (being bombarded with websites from solicitors with outlandish claims like 100% success rates on defending iTunes test charges etc).
I feel massive remorse, guilt and shame alongside the anxiety. I already have severe anxiety and depression so this is adding to the burden. I’m just wondering if others have had such a lengthy wait and how they’ve managed to cope with it all?
Thanks

Hey,

Have you got any idea of how much your reading might be?

My advice is that u should being to resign yourself to the inevitable and being making plans in regards to how you are going to adapt to the change of not being able to drive and tell your the ones you are close to if you havnt already about the situation.

The wait is really hard, I know from experience. It all feels like a bad dream that you will wake up from, but unfortunately you won't. The anxiety will become less if you can begin to accept it.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's so painful.

It’s an awful experience. And one of my own making which makes it worse :-(. I blew just over 80 on the roadside test. Just wish it was all done and over with but it won’t be for a long time. It’s changed my perspective on drinking though. It’s just not worth having a drink really

OK well I blew 76 and the urine test came back 148, your result it highly likely to come back positive unfortunately

As Louise73 pointed out, the best thing to do is accept that you will be banned from driving and start planning how you will manage. I am in a similar position, been waiting for blood result for nearly 8 weeks now. I have been told it could take several more months, not sure of covid is affecting the timescales. There are some very experienced people on this forum who will be able to advise about the possible length of ban. What keeps me going is knowing that I dont want to touch alcohol again, so at least thats one health and financial benefit to come out of this. We all make mistakes, just make sure you learn from it.

I'm the same Jon. No plan to touch alcohol at all. So physically we should both be a lot better off as you say

Good, and don't let solicitors on the Internet delude you. All that is important is that you can keep your job if you work and that you can get there and back, your loved ones and your health.
Thanks Louise - there's a lot of shocking claims out there. I have gone for specialist representation. But with a company that it took me a long time to find that don't made deluded claims and don't charge thousands. Mostly just because I'm too anxious to represent myself so wanted the extra support.

Well that should relieve your anxiety alot, being in the hands of professionals that you trust and are genuine takes alot off weight off you

Well done for such a positive attitude and post

If that was repeated as a urine result then that would put you in the second bracket for sentencing, so 17-22 months, which could be reduced by up to 25% if you were offered, and complete, a Drink Drive Rehabilitation course.
How long after the roadside breath test would you say you provided the second urine sample?

No idea to be honest. I was an anxious mess. But I’m learning to accept what’s coming and have put plans in place for any length of ban that’s forthcoming. About the only thing I can do at the minute really. That and work on improving myself as a person really

Hi,
I sympathise with you 100% with the whole anxiety situation. I find myself double reading answered questions or googling the worst case scenarios, criminal record, going on local news and making myself stress so much to the point I feel physically sick. The staying up till stupid o’clock with the ‘what if’s’ and the guilt driving you mad so yeah fully know where your coming from. The only way to move forward right about now is just getting yourself ready mentally that you will be banned (that’s what I’m doing, court date is in two weeks) Once you've accepted that then you can think about the course which reduces the ban and the references your taking to court etc. Louise on here gave me some great advice along with the others and I say just take it all in. I know it’s hard, but what can we do unfortunately. This has all at least given us a big scare and a telling off that we won’t ever touch drink again. I’m just surprised they made you do the roadside test and then urine? Gosh :/. Hope we find some ease!

The internet is evil when we're alone with it isn't it? I hope your court date goes as well as it can. An awful wait but it will be over soon and then life can start again :)
